The Recording Industry of South Africa RISA has confirmed that Cassper Nyovest has reached 10 million record sales across his whole discography. This came after DJ Maphorisa had accused Cassper of lying about his achievement of 10 million record sales on Twitter.
Nyovest took to social media on Monday to announce that he had been awarded with a plaque that showed that he "passed 10 million records sold" in his career. Many people including DJ Maphorisa had replied to the star doubting his claims and believed that the rapper was lying. However, Cassper's fans won't let any spotlight shift from the rapper, saying they don't care if it’s from streams, records or albums and that they are proud of Cassper either way. His fans have started a #10MillionRecordSold in his honour.
The Best Team on YFM made a call to RISA on air to confirm whether Cassper’s claims were accurate, and indeed they were.
This comes after Cassper filled up FNB Stadium will around 68 000 screaming fans on the 2nd of December this year. Although Cassper was a couple thousands short of the tickets selling out, he made history by outselling international acts such as Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Linkin Park and Lady Gaga.
