The show was hosted by Trevor Noah and Bonang Matheba. This was an historic day for Africa and millions of people around the world, standing up for Mandela’s hope for change, for a better future. Making sure that Africa's voice was being heard.

The Global Citizen Festival surpassed its goal for commitments of USD $1 billion by seven times! with commitments from the World Bank, Vodacom, PEPFAR, Cisco, the government of South Africa and not to mention co-hosts of Mandela 100, the Motsepe Foundation.
