Local musicians, Sho Madjozi and AKA, have both been nominated for the fan voted categories in the BET Awards. AKA being nominated for Best International Act Award and Sho Madjozi for Best New International Act.
AKA has been nominated for the fifth time and it will be Sho Madjozi’s first nomination. The nominations are selected by BET’s Voting Academy, which includes fans and revered groups of entertainment professionals.
First-time nominee Sho Madjozi best known for her Xitsonga lyrics and vibrant fashion, said she was excited and happy to score the nomination.
“To go and represent my continent and my country amongst so many other artists it feels great that I’m the one that was chosen to represent my people, it’s always been a big honor to get nominated for the BET Awards,” said AKA.
